Giving direction to innovation
To meet the technical, economic and environmental challenges of the factory of the future and of a perpetually changing world, the Group commits to a responsible approach in order to provide a direction to innovation and growth.
Thanks to its expertise in the treatment of liquids and gases through fundamental processes for the conservation of water and air such as filtration and catalysis, ALSYS is able to assist its customers:
- in the development of technological solutions adapted to their specific application needs
- to manage intensive Research & Development programmes in each area of activity
- to anticipate changes and needs of the markets while facilitating the application of chemistry and physics on the industrial scale
Here are several examples of our axes of innovation:
For chemistry and chemical engineering:
Pervaporation is a process for the separation of liquid mixtures by partial vaporisation. ALSYS has access to the technology of Hybsi® ceramic pervaporation membranes which allows water to be separated from solvents and organic compounds. ALSYS also has a mobile system on a pilot scale (feasibility studies, process design) and experience in the areas of solvent recycling by dehydration (pharmacy), the concentration of aromatic mixtures (fine chemistry) and the improvement of esterification processes by selectively eliminating water from the reaction mixture (chemistry).

For chemistry and energy production:
For the improvement of the safety of nuclear reactors and their acceptability, the objective of the JANUS project (FUI consortium) is to ensure the effective and sustainable retention (filtration/separation/storage) of radioactive iodides and noble gases (xenon, krypton) contained in the gas mixture released into the atmosphere during a serious accident.
Energy production processes: ALSYS designs and supplies WGS (Water-Gas-Shift) and SR (Steam Reforming) catalysts for hydrogen production. More recently Methanation catalysts were developed for the valorization of CO and CO2 from the biomass.
For the control of Gas Emissions:
ALSYS has extensive experience in filtering particles emitted by mobile sources, especially diesel engines. Since 2015, ALSYS have been developing a new filtration technology to meet the next EURO 7 regulations for petrol engine vehicles. This technology will allow the finest particles to be removed while preserving the performance of future engines.
ALSYS also works on the purification of air in aircraft cabins by developing innovative, competitive technologies for the elimination of ozone over a wide range of operating conditions (temperature, flow-rate, etc.).
For stationary sources, ALSYS focuses its attention on the development of new catalytic technologies for the treatment of NOx and N2O. Its priority is to reduce the energy costs of current solutions while keeping extremely low NOx and N2O emissions levels.
In the area of CO2 capture, the GENESIS project (Horizon 2020 consortium) aims to develop membranes with a very selective permeability and stability at high temperatures in order to demonstrate their performance in relevant environments such as the cement industry. The targeted materials for large scale development are IPOSS membrane systems (Imide-POSS network on a ceramic membrane support) and MOFs (Metal-Organic-Framework).
For Human food & Animal feed:
In the food sector, ALSYS develops innovative solutions for the conservation of foodstuffs, including mineral additives incorporated into packaging. This prevents the development of bacteria and fungi.
In the area of animal feed, ALSYS develops products for the better health of animals and better dietary effectiveness, avoiding the use of hormones and antibiotics.
ALSYS products allow it to intervene effectively in the treatment of plant diseases (fruits and vegetables).
