Proven Industrial Treatment Capabilities That Make A Difference
Whether you require a standalone membrane system or a fully engineered modular wastewater plant, our flexible delivery model fits your exact project scope.
Relentless Durability
Our ceramic membranes withstand extreme pH levels and temperatures above 212°F (100°C), with a typical lifespan of 5-20 years, minimizing replacement costs and downtime.
Consistent Quality
Physical barrier filtration removes suspended solids and oil to levels of 0.5-1 ppm, with recovery rates of 90-95%, ensuring consistent output for your process, regardless of feed variability.
Modular & Packaged Systems
Pre-engineered, skid-mounted, and containerized plants designed for rapid deployment, treating complex oily water, heavy metals, and industrial effluent.
Integrated EPCM & Field Support
Full lifecycle execution—including pilot testing, detailed mechanical and electrical design, custom fabrication, commissioning, and ongoing operational support.
California Produced Water Treatment: 50,000 BPD at 160°F (71°C)
ALSYS installed a 50,000-barrels-per-day ceramic membrane system treating 160°F (71°C) produced water in California. Commissioned in 2012, it uses 228 custom abrasion-resistant membranes engineered for high-solids conditions to consistently meet once-through steam generator feed specifications for enhanced oil recovery.
Industrial Water Treatment: FAQ
Industrial operators face complex feed chemistry, strict discharge limits, and footprint constraints. These FAQs address common questions about ALSYS’ integrated capabilities—from equipment selection and pre-treatment to turnkey EPCM delivery and long-term system performance.
Ceramic membranes excel in harsh conditions—handling solvents, aggressive chemicals, extreme pH (0–14), and high temperatures (>212°F / 100°C) where polymeric elements fail.
However, for complex industrial wastewater containing emulsified oils, heavy metals, or high organic loads, ALSYS Engineering combines ceramic filtration with upstream chemical dosing, DAF, or biological packages to deliver an optimized, complete treatment plant.
High-solids and heavy-oil streams are managed through a integrated treatment train. For rapid solids settling, sludge dewatering, or tailings treatment, we deploy custom polymer hydration plants and primary clarification skids. For fine particulate and oil polishing, our high-flux CeraMem® and Kleansep™ ceramic ultrafiltration systems operate reliably at elevated solids concentrations, delivering consistent permeate quality under 1 ppm oil and TSS.
We offer flexible delivery models tailored to your project scope. Whether you require standalone membrane modules, skid-mounted polymer preparation systems, or full engineering, procurement, construction management, and start-up (EPCM) for a complete plant, our multidisciplinary team handles the full lifecycle—from Pre-FEED and pilot testing to detailed engineering, custom fabrication, and on-site commissioning.
Pre-treatment depends on feed chemistry. To protect downstream membrane systems and extend operational cycles, we engineer upstream chemical dosing, pH neutralization, polymer hydration, and physical oil-water separation units. Upstream pre-treatment breaks difficult emulsions and drops out heavy contaminants, minimizing chemical cleaning requirements and lowering operating costs.
Yes. ALSYS ceramic membranes eliminate the operational challenges inherent to diatomaceous earth filtration while delivering superior and more consistent performance.
DE filters require continuous media replacement, generating disposal costs and creating handling hazards from silica dust exposure. The media degrades during use, leading to inconsistent filtration performance and breakthrough of contaminants. Frequent system shutdowns for backwashing and media recharging interrupt production.
ALSYS’ Kleansep™ and CeraMem® ceramic membranes provide permanent filtration barriers that maintain consistent pore size and removal efficiency throughout their 5-20 year lifespan. Automated cleaning cycles restore performance without media replacement or manual intervention. Our systems handle variable feed quality without breakthrough, delivering consistent permeate quality regardless of upstream process changes.
For applications currently using DE filtration, including process water polishing, beverage clarification, and industrial wastewater treatment, ALSYS ceramic membrane systems reduce operating costs by eliminating media purchases and disposal while increasing system uptime and improving filtration reliability.
