Sustainability in the Textile Industry: REUSE of treated wastewater in the Textile Industry

Sustainability and REUSE of treated wastewater in the Textile Industry

July marks the beginning of a significant project for our company, as we secured an order from a world-renowned client specializing in silk finishing. The client’s vision for treating their wastewater for reuse to meet their sustainability goals aligns perfectly with our mission to offer innovative solutions while preserving the environment.

Details of the REUSE Project

At the core of the project are high-performance filtration units that are meticulously designed to meet the specific needs of the client. Each ultrafiltration (UF) unit utilizes Kleansep ceramic membranes to pretreat effluent from a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR), followed by physico-chemical treatment. The filtration loops are equipped with Kleansep tubular modules (see our range here), which in turn are fitted with ceramic membranes. These filtration loops supply permeate to the reverse osmosis (RO) unit, ultimately producing the recycled water to the specifications of the client's requirements.

Challenges and Project Objectives

The primary challenge is managing the residual Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) in the effluent to avoid disrupting the RO membrane's operation. It is an innovative and precise approach to maximize treatment efficiency. We also wanted to reduce energy consumption, particularly in the UF circulation loops that are equipped with ceramic membranes. By accomplishing these two challenges we were able to meet the goals of our customer to increase performance and sustainability, which also aligns with our core mission.

Expertise and Collaboration

Our team consists of seasoned experts and creative young talent, all driven by a shared passion for innovation. Together, we collaborated to bring innovative ideas to this ambitious project. Each member contributes their unique skills and expertise, forming a powerful synergy that drives us forward.

Towards Operational Reality

This project represents a significant technological and environmental advancement, achieving approximately 50% water effluent recycling for the silk finishing client.

The story of this groundbreaking project is just beginning,

and we are eager to tackle the exciting challenges that lie ahead. If you have a water REUSE project of your own, please don't hesitate to contact us!

Thanks to filtration membranes, you can:

  • Remove impurities and oils
  • Separate various chemical contaminants
  • Capture micro-pollutants...
